Freshwater Bay Residents Association

Freshwater Bay, set between Tennyson and Afton downs, is a small coastal inlet on the south coast of beautiful West Wight.

The bay has a promenade and sea defences that prevent the waters of the Channel breaking through into Afton Marsh and the river Yar. Without this barrier Freshwater would be an island. Afton Marsh is a small wetland that is of great interest to naturalists and botanists.

Love Freshwater Bay
There is a real “get away from it all” atmosphere that is popular with Islanders as well as visitors. The bay has an 18-hole golf course, a gallery and museum of photography, thatched-roof church, a traditional village shop and a piano cafe.

The association aims to safeguard and promote Freshwater Bay in three ways: by acting as a focal point for discussing and disseminating information; by organising social activities; and by developing schemes that enhance the area.

Website www.fbra.org.uk is bursting with information.
